Our Morning Wish

Dear Shirley Sherrod:

We are hesitant to ask for anything because you have delivered so many gifts thus far:  an endless news cycle, calls for Bill O’Reilly’s head, and most deliciously, more clips than we could ever imagine of journalists saying snookered.”  What more can we ask, you say, and, you’re right.  But then today you go and bestow upon us yet another gift that we know will just keep on giving and giving (and giving): a good ol’ fashioned, red-blooded American lawsuit,.  This alone should keep us entertained but, well, the August recess is fast approaching.  Members will return to campaign mode, b-o-r-i-n-g, and well, it’s been far too long since we’ve seen this glorious face of justice in our nation’s capitol.  So please, please, Ms. Sherrod, on behalf of a grateful and desparate nation, please hire the, yes the, Gloria Allred to represent you in the made-for-TV spectacle that shall become Sherrod v. Breitbart.

Sincerely,

A Greedy Washington Press Corps

Jeffrey Lord is the Incompetent Grammar Police

Shirley Sherrod

Former Reagan administration official Jeffrey Lord understands the importance of language.  He can tell, for example, that Shirley Sherrod is a racey race-baiting race racist because she said that her relative was “lynched,” when in reality he was only BEATEN TO DEATH BY A BLACKJACK.

This obviously makes Sherrod a lying racist with a particularly morbid vote-getting strategy, because, according to Lord, she “knew the truth and chose to embellish it, changing a brutal and fatal beating to a lynching.”  HOW HORRIBLE. Lord makes a valid point.

Except–wait–no he doesn’t.  Even Lord’s colleagues at the American Spectator felt the need to point out his extreme dickishness, as “lynching is an extrajudicial murder by a mob, whether or not the weapon of choice is a rope.”  Oops.  Never mind.

President Obama Tells the Media to Stop Pushing Him Around, Alright?

Ok, so President Obama made a mistake by letting Sec. of Agriculture Tom Vilsack fire Shirley Sherrod. But it wasn’t his fault!  He was FORCED to “jump to conclusions by
the power of today’s “media culture!”

He didn’t want to fire her, you see? He was just helpless in the face of such an overwhelming media culture.  If only he was employed in some sort of job that gave him more power, so that he could stand up to these bullies.

Andrew Breitbart is Confused

Sure, professional douchebag Andrew Breitbart released an edited clip of a speech by USDA official Shirley Sherrod clearly designed to falsely demonstrate her racism (one the NAACP, White House, and Secratary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack pathetically caved to), but what Briebart really wants to know is WHY IS EVERYONE MAKING THIS ABOUT HER?

According to Brietbart, “the media has misconstrued the intention behind this.”  He’s right. How could everyone make such a stupid mistake?  Just because Brietbart manipulated the release of video to intentionally paint Sherrod as a racist, that doesn’t mean he was intentionally trying to make her seem racist.  How hard is this to understand?
